Yin and Yang is one of the core ideas in TCM. It represents balance between two opposite forces. Yin is usually associated with things like cold, rest, and darkness, while Yang is linked to heat, activity, and light. In the body, health is achieved when Yin and Yang are balanced. If one becomes too strong or too weak, it can lead to problems.
A simple example is diet. If someone eats too many “heaty” foods like fried or spicy food, it might create too much Yang, leading to symptoms like sore throat or acne. On the other hand, too much “cold” food like iced drinks could weaken digestion. A practical tip is to try balancing your meals with both warming and cooling foods depending on how your body feels.
